Nice call on this scene. It's really all about the structure of the beats combined with the song and the juxtaposition of vacations and Viet Nam. Just a really fun idea.

Way to point this out. I think we also talked the other scenes they do similar to this, where they are sitting in a bar telling stories about old girlfriends. I think the song they use is the Alman Brothers or something, but I can never remember.

I stand corrected. The song they sing is called "Amie" by Pure Prairie League, but I can't find a link to this video on line anywhere.
I liked it. Too bad they were so heavily saddled by the cue cards, especially at the top.
