Go See It Tonight!

We already put out a plug for Robot vs. Dinosaur presents Mrs Gruber's Ding Dong School this Saturday January 9th at 7:00pm at Chicago's Sketchfest 2010 - 1225 W Belmont Ave. Well don't you want comedy sooner? How about checking out 365 Sketches tonight? Robot vs. Dinosaur's own Joe Janes, if you haven't heard, has been diligently writing a sketch a day for a full year. He is presenting a sample of these sketches at Sketchfest this year. It will be great, so check it out.

[Editor's Note: RvD is actually performing one of the sketches, "I Love 2 Boogie," in tonight's show, featuring Nat Topping, Mary Cait Walthall, Becca Levine, Doug Werder and Don Loukota and directed by Chris Othic.]

Then after you see Robot vs. Dinosaur presents Mrs Gruber's Ding Dong School this Saturday January 9th at 7:00pm at Chicago's Sketchfest 2010 - 1225 W Belmont Ave, you'll be screaming for more comedy! How about Creepy Hug on Sunday? RvD member Greg Wendling also helped write that show, so it's great.

Creepy Hug, Sunday January 10th at 4:00 PM, North Theatre. I know both groups.

Cheeky sketch comedy show DIRT NAP to die at only 4 weeks old

CHICAGO - This weekend, Dirt Nap, hailed for its' irreverent social commentary, poignant observations of the absurdities of everyday life, and humorous exploration of the fears and rituals surrounding death,' will be laid to rest according to his publicist. Youngest child of 8 for its producers, *Creepy Hug, last rites for Dirt Nap will be held this weekend at the Gorilla Tango Theater - 1919 N. Milwaukee Avenue (just East of Western). Viewings will take place on both Friday the 9th and Saturday the 10th at 8 PM.

With puppets, puppies and music galore, "Dirt" will be remembered fondly by friends as "... a great show, with very tight, clever humor and (to my surprise) a lot of funny musical numbers. The writer/performers [of] *Creepy Hug approach the subject of death in a number of unexpected, humorous ways. This show is a very enjoyable way to start a night out with a lot of laughs."

The lifelong Chicago resident is survived by his dynamic cast - Collin Blackard, Jillian Burfete, Lisa Burton, Amy Lavery, Ryan McDermott, and Chris Perez; and writers Dan Facchini, David Rocco Facchini, Matt Noonan and Greg Wendling.

In lieu of flowers, $12 donations can be made in the form of ticket sales at the Gorilla Tango theater: (773) 598-4549.

Creepy Hug Presents: Dirt Nap!

Hey everybody,

Another sketch group I'm a part of, *Creepy Hug, opens our eighth show, entitled "Dirt Nap" this Friday at 8pm at Gorilla Tango, and I sincerely believe it just might be the funniest show *Creepy Hug has ever done. Come see it soon! Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm from September 18 - October 10 at Gorilla Tango (1919 N Milwaukee). Tickets are $12. Book them at www.gorillatango.com or at 773-743-8338.

Here's the show description:

Death is coming! Not just for you, but for everybody, eventually. The fact is every animal on the planet is destined to take one final breath before cashing in; checking out; meeting their maker; paying the piper; kicking the bucket; buying the pine box condo; biting the big one; becoming worm food. The choice is yours: either waste time crying over the impending endless vacation, or laugh at the face of death. Regardless, we’re all destined for a Dirt Nap.

Creepy Hug’s eighth sketch show, Dirt Nap, is a high-energy revue that makes light of the eternal darkness. With songs, puppies and puppets, the ensemble cast finds laughs in facing one’s fears, a doctor’s bad news, and a dying mother’s final request. In addition to being an hour of engaging comedy, Dirt Nap will help you come to terms with that fatal flop, the cessation siesta, the terminal trance, necrosis nod, hibernation in heaven….you get the point.
